Should Your Parent, or Girlfriend/Boyfriend, have the Password to your Phone?

I believe parents and girlfriends should not have the password to your phone. I think all teens need their privacy and parents dont have the right to invade that privacy. Girlfriends can have the password if you trust them but thats doing too much. She only needs it if she uses your phone constantly. -Derrick Washington

  1. I do agree with Derrick Washington, teens should have their privacy. Now if you have a girlfriend and you trust her then you should let her go though your phone but I dont believe that your own parents should go through your phone. Why should they, most of the time parents dont want their own kids going through their phones its like another parent going through another parent phone. I think your mom or your dad shouldn’t go though your phone with out your permission. Now I could see if your phone is getting you in a lot of trouble at school, at your job or even at home. But most of the time that’s not the case. So yes, I do believe that your parents shouldn’t go through your phone without your permission. -Trevyon Hilliard

  2. To be honest, I’m split on this issue. On the one hand, I feel as if, with the way things are shaping up with today’s youth and their actions, it should almost be required for parents to have the password to their kid’s phones because its the best way to monitor their actions if the need to do so were ever to arise. On the other hand however, I do not feel as if my girlfriend should have the password to my phone. I think there should exist a level of trust between couples that disputes any need for one’s significant other to have the password to their mate’s phone. Now if she were ever to ask me for said password, I wouldn’t hesitate to give it to her but I will take it as a sign that she doesn’t trust me and our bond is not as strong as it I thought it was. So yes, parents should definitely have the password to their kid’s phones yet boyfriends and girlfriends, ideally, should have no reason to have their mate’s password to his/her phone. -Greg Broadwater

  3. I do not think that a girlfriend or your parents should have your password because every person needs there on privacy. -Romel Moore
