My Name is Gregory Dawayne Deonta’e Broadwater. I come from a large family where I am the third oldest of seven children. I’m 19 years old and I am a Sophomore at the University of Norte Dame where I am majoring in Secondary Math and English Education with a minor in Africana Studies. I’ve been apart of the Distinguished Gentlemen of Spoken Word going on two years now and I have loved every minute of the experience. I love to read, sleep and create, whether it be poetry and songs or speeches and presentations. I’ve lived in Cleveland my whole life and plan on returning here to teach high school English and Math as well as continuing my work with the gents upon graduation. My favorite pieces to perform are: The Negro Speaks of Rivers by Langston Hughes and If by Paul Laurence Dunbar. My favorite thing about the Distinguished Gentlemen is that the group allows me to challenge my mind while testing my leadership abilities and expanding my love of poetry to new heights. I also love the Committed Brotherhood aspect of the group because I can find comfort in knowing I have an entire brotherhood who has my back and who will support me through all of the challenges life throws my way.
